Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?Ī: 1. You want someone who is passionate about your own project and invested in it as much as you are. Some people may say that cheaper producers will reflect in the quality but that's certainly not the case. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?Ī: Take a good listen to their samples and what they can provide for you. If you're pretty flexible then that's less of an issue of course. If you have a specific sound you're looking for, then audio examples are a brilliant way of focusing into a particular genre that you'd like. If you have a specific vision in mind then I need to know from the get-go. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?Ī: For me I'd like to know the ground rules pretty early on. You need to tread the line of keeping the listener interested without taking drastic directions in tone and melodic content, whilst at the same time making sure your music isn't too repetative! And that's just the tip of the iceberg. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?Ī: Some producers think ambient music is "easy" but that's simply not the case. I've even had some of my favourite artists comment on how good my tracks are and that gives me such a buzz to continue doing what I do, even in the most difficult times. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?Ī: That I will put 110% to deliver what you want, and spent as long as I need in the studio to get to that point.Ī: I love seeing all my work culminate in a final project, and having complete strangers comment on how amazing it sounds. I edge towards the digital side just because of the number of extra options you generally have for sound design in ambient music. It was created during lockdown and each track is dramatically different and reflects my mood changes throughout this turbulent time.īut seriously, both have their advantages and disadvantages. Q: What are you working on at the moment?Ī: I have recently just finished my latest EP "Cosmic Odyssey" that is due to be released on the 4th of September. It's been a joy to give his track a new life and I look forward to working with him more in the future! I have known this friend all of my life, we are both musicians but never truly got to sit down and do something creative together. What was your role?Ī: Recently I worked with an old friend of mine to take one of his tracks and take it into a different direction. I can provide basic digital mastering services for you to give your track it's the final bit of polish ready for release. I am proficient with Ableton, Studio One and Bitwig, owning all 3 DAW's to carry out different tasks in my creative process. Electronic and ambient music is where my mixing skills excel at given this is the genre I have the most experience with. I'm happy to mix most genres and I am confident you will get good results at the end. I have composed, mixed and mastered my own music for several years.
